Biden’s Reelection Odds Drop to 9% Amid Harris Speculation on Polymarket

Us Election, Joe Biden, Donald Trump

On the Polymarket distributed predictions platform, odds of United States President Joe Biden being reelected dropped as low as 9% as punters questioned if Vice President Kamala Harris may replace Biden as the Democrat nominee.

Biden’s chances have then momentarily rebounded somewhat, presently at 10% in Polymarket’s $226 million “Presidential Election Winner 2024” market. With 61% chances, former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump is the preferred; Harris comes in second with 19% odds.

Share prices matching Biden’s chances on predictions site PredictIt have also reduced from $0.25 to $0.20. Now the top Democrat candidate is Harris; Trump still has the highest valued “Yes” share at $0.58.

Issues About Biden’s Second Term Fitness

It coincides with growing worries from media and outside analysts suggesting he may not be suitable for a second term. CNN claims that at a July 3 White House meeting, the President apparently alarmed many U.S. governors by playfully stating, “I’m fine — I don’t know about my brain, though.” According to the same story, Biden reportedly decided to cease planning activities after 8 p.m. now so he may sleep more.

The following day, Biden mistook himself as the “first black woman” serving as U.S. President in a radio interview, a recording that has been trending on social media since. Biden did not do himself many favors.

With Harris the most probable Democrat contender facing battle with Trump, Polymarket currently estimates a 66% possibility that Biden will bow out before the Nov. 4 U.S. election. Biden has underlined, meanwhile, that he has no intention of resigning in face of mounting pressure. Biden allegedly declared during an Independence Day address at the White House on July 4, “I’m not going anywhere.”
