Binance Alert: Phishing and Fraud Surge on Telegram

Binance

On Telegram, cryptocurrency exchange Binance has detected a concerning rise in fraudulent activity. These operations mostly consist of phishing campaigns, investment fraud, or fraud by fraudsters posing themselves as Binance staff members.

In response to this threat, Binance wrote an essay outlining typical Telegram scams and offering advice on how to avoid becoming victims of them.

Binance counsels consumers to always closely check the details of their Telegram contacts. One can find pertinent account information on the person’s profile page. Users should not rely on the material in the bio area; instead, they should pay especially attention to the username box.

Anyone may easily change the bio field, so anyone can pretend to be connected to official Binance channels. Scammers sometimes disguise the username while presenting official-sounding bio field data in order to fool users.

Users checking their account information should pay close attention to every letter in the username, both uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as special characters. To make their accounts look quite similar to genuine accounts, some scammers utilize particular character swaps or letter case changes.

A bogus account might spell “BlNACE,” utilizing the letter L instead of the letter I for the proper spelling of “BINANCE.” At first glance, these two symbols seem similar, but close inspection reveals otherwise.
