The new policy will go into effect on January 29, 2024, and will require advertisers in the United States that offer cryptocurrency trust services to meet certain requirements and be approved by Google in order to run ads on its platforms.

According to Google, this policy change is intended to clarify the scope and requirements for the advertising of cryptocurrency trusts, which are different from cryptocurrency exchanges or wallets. Details will be announced on January 29.

Google also stated that it expects all advertisers to comply with local laws in the regions where their ads are targeted, and that this policy will apply to all accounts promoting these products globally. Additionally, it added that advertisers who violate the policy will not have their accounts suspended immediately but will receive a warning at least seven days before any action is taken.

Google banned all cryptocurrency-related ads in 2018. However, it later relaxed the ban in 2019 to allow regulated cryptocurrency exchanges to advertise in the United States and Japan.
