15 years ago today, on January 3, 2009, the Genesis, the first Bitcoin (BTC) block, was released by an unknown person or group using the name Satoshi Nakamoto. The Genesis Day, which is considered the birthday of Bitcoin, continues to be celebrated with enthusiasm by Bitcoin investors around the world. Due to time difference, as every year, Asian and Hong Kong markets are among the first to celebrate Genesis Day this year as well.

The BTC network came into operation on January 3, 2009. The person who brought it to life is Satoshi Nakamoto. There is debate about whether this name is a real name, a pseudonym, or a title belonging to a team. The maximum number of BTC that can be produced is limited to 21 million as stated in the genesis block. The first BTC transfer took place between developer Satoshi Nakamoto and Hal Finney, who helped him during the development. The first purchase was made with a pizza bought with 10,000 Bitcoin on May 22, 2010, and is celebrated every year as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
BTC, which was launched to change the traditional banking system, seems to have achieved its goals to some extent. Satoshi Nakamoto aimed to correct and revolutionize the classical financial system by establishing a decentralized and reliable structure. The goal was to create a more social monetary system by eliminating banks, which are considered to be unreliable intermediaries. According to many people, Bitcoin, which is more reliable than traditional financial instruments and banking institutions, has become such a popular currency that almost the whole world accepts its existence.
